Join Us for a Special Bonus Pedaling for a Purpose Session at West 6th Farm!

On Sunday, June 9, we will be offering a "Bonus" Pedaling for a Purpose session at West 6th Farm on Shadrick Ferry Rd in Franklin County.  We chose to offer this session so the NICA teams we are helping to support can tell us want is going on and then they can ride their mountain bikes together on the trails at the farm.

We will hear from the NICA teams at 10:00 am and our group rides will begin from the lower parking lot at 11:00 am, so please park down there and walk up to the tap room for the session with the NICA teams.

It is a bit hillier from the farm, so our group ride routes are a bit shorter. We don't ride from there much as a club, so if you want to try some new rides, please join us!

Those attending will receive a point for the session with the NICA teams and a point for the ride if you attend both.

Pace Groups, Ride Leaders and Routes: -11:00 am

NOTE: There will be no novice ride at this session

C Road (10-12 mph ave) – Leader: Wanda Bertram
B/C Pace (12-14 mph ave) – Leader: Don Cartwright

The C and B/C paces will use this out and back route - 19 mile route:

B Pace (14-16 mph ave) – Leaders: Glenn Mitchell and Troy Hearn
A/B Short (16-18 mph ave) – Leaders: Dean Pulsifer

The B and shorter A/B will used this 29 mile route -

The A pace will use this 38 mile route:

Rain will cancel both the session with the NICA teams and the ride, and we will post by 9:00 am if we do cancel.

In short, this session presents an opportunity to ride some different roads and make up for a session you might be missing due to vacation or other obligations.

Program Purposes:

  • To provide educational opportunities for people wanting to learn more about bikes and cycling
  • To provide an opportunity for anyone who wants to ride a bike, whether with a group or not, to meet and mingle
  • To support health and fitness related charitable organizations
  • To mix and expand the various cycling communities that exist in our area
  • To provide incentives for people to ride their bikes
  • To introduce cycling to new populations

The Bike Part:

Rides start 1 hour after the education sessions begin and will feature various distances, experience levels, and paces.  There will also be an option for people to come, sign in, and do an urban ride or ride on their own.

The Charity Part:

The maximum contribution to AMBUCS and Broke Spoke  is $1,400 with $500 each for the NICA teams, assuming enough miles are logged by participants. Contributions will be made jointly by the BCC and West 6th.

Rider Rewards Part:

Riders will receive rewards at the end of the program based on participation points.  1 point will be awarded for each education session attended and 1 point for each ride attended for a total possible point total of 18 points.

Riders who have 12 or more points will receive a free jersey

Riders who have between 8 and 11 points will receive a $15 discount on purchasing a jersey.

However, a participant must have at least 2 points from both rides and education sessions (in other words, to earn a jersey or tee shirt, a participant must attend at least some of both)

There will be a party, celebration, jersey/tee shirt distribution and charity recognition/check delivery event in January of 2025!
