Invite You To Join Us For Pedaling for a Purpose 2022

  • Featuring a 45 minute education sessions followed by group rides
  • Participants earn points toward a free tee shirt or jersey by attending sessions
  • Each mile pedaled during the rides earns $0.40 for the charity of the day

We will offer traditional BCC group rides for all paces, with ride leaders, but you can also come, sign in, do your own thing, and have your miles count for our charity of the day.

The charities we will be riding for include three of our local NICA teams (youth mountain biking teams that are just getting started in Central Kentucky), Bluegrass AMBUCS - an organization that provides specially adapted bikes for kids who need them, and Broke Spoke, our local community bike shop.

Education Session - 8:00 a.m. - Our speaker will be Matt Lee with Kort Physical Therapy.  The title of Matt's talk is "Goldilocks and the 3 different bike fits - which one is right for you?"

Description:
Every cyclist has unique body mechanics. movement strategies, riding styles and cycling goals (just go on a group ride and look around).  The process of fitting your bike to your body is a wonderful process to create cycling efficiency and a better riding experience.  However there are different types of bike fits for each rider/style and one size does not fit all.  This session will look at different bike fit strategies and help you assess the best type for your style and goals.  The session will also discuss common cycling complaints (numb hands, neck pain and back pain) and share the medical rationale for accommodations.  As always, we will take a quick annual checkup of your leg and trunk strength so you'll know how to enhance your riding skill.

NOTE: THE FORECAST CALLS FOR A HIGH HEAT INDEX AND RIDE LEADERS MAY SHORTEN OR ALTER ROUTES IN RESPONSE.
