The Bluegrass Cycling Club and West 6th have agreed to co-sponsor Pedaling for a Purpose again for 2021.  The charities we will be riding for include the Fayette and Clark County NICA teams (youth mountain biking teams that are just getting started in Central Kentucky) and Bluegrass AMBUCS - an organization that provides specially adapted bikes for kids who need them.

This special session will be at West 6th Farm, located on Shadrick Ferry Road in Franklin County. It's a bit hillier riding from the farm, and there will be no Novice Ride.

Parking - When you arrive at West 6th Farm, please park in the gravel parking lot on the left as you enter - our rides will start near the entrance on Shadrick Ferry road, so parking in this lot will be more convenient, and will also save parking in the upper lot for other visitors. From this lot, it will be a short walk to where our education session will be held.

Jersey Fit Kits  - Our jerseys this year are from Giant, a new vendor for us - we will have fit kits at this session and again at our last session on September 25th so if you have earned or plan to buy a jersey, make sure to try on the samples so you know what size to order!

Education Session 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm - Our presenters will be Fran Bevins and Wendy Leuenberger from the BCC Rides Committee and they will be presenting about group riding and safety.

This session will be outside under the pavilion near the stage, which is next to the building where the bathrooms and bar are.  Since we will be entirely outside, masks will not be required but please wear one if you want to.

  • To provide an opportunity for anyone who wants to ride a bike, whether with a group or not, to meet and mingle
  • To support health and fitness related charitable organizations
  • To mix and expand the various cycling communities that exist in our area
  • To provide incentives for people to ride their bikes
  • To introduce cycling to new populations

Each mile ridden during pedaling for a purpose will result in $0.40 for the charity of the day.  The maximum contribution, to be made jointly by the  BCC and West 6th, is $1,300 for each charity
