Shawn Hokanson
I’ve been a cyclist since 1995, starting with mountain bikes and now mainly road cycling.  I rode a Brevet series in Texas in 2005, earning Super Randonneur status and completing a fleche during that year.  While in Texas, I served as Vice President of the Brazos Valley Cyclists from April 2005- April 2006, and organized the College Station Ride of Silence in 2005 and 2006.  In 2009, I led a series of rides for the BCC in Lawrenceburg, and organized the October Time Trial series, and plan on organizing a Spring/Summer 2010 Time Trial series. I am a Soil Scientist, and my work experience includes management, budgeting and cost control as well as safety training.  I’m 45 years old, married with a 13 year old daughter.

Nedim Slijepcevic
I am currently maintaining the BCC Web site (since 2007). and also helping the BCC explore new ways of technology utilization in order to increase the Club’s operational efficiency.  This is my fourth year in Richmond, Kentucky where I work at EKU’s College of Justice and Safety as an Instructional Designer.  I have been a Club member since 2007 who rides regularly, and I plan to continue helping the club with my technical expertise. I am seeking a 2 year term.

I would like to continue helping the Club and see it succeed in every aspect: recreational, philanthropic and bicycle advocacy.

Sandra Duff
I am willing to serve as a board member for 1 year, as assistant to the incoming treasurer. I have served as BCC treasurer 2.5 yrs, have volunteered numerous hours for the Horsey Hundred and Red River Rally the past few years. I am a small business owner for 25 years, I am frugal  and even tempered. I want to serve on the board to help smooth the transition to the new board structure; and I enjoy being in on the planning and get togethers.

Mike Bagley
I am an engineer with Trane and have been in Kentucky for 9 years.  I am originally from Georgia and am becoming accustomed to cheering on the Cats (when not playing Ga or GT).  I started riding last year when my son Reed asked me to join him.  I serve as a member of the current board as Rides Chairman.  I served as Food Coordinator last year for the Horsey Hundred, and will again in 2010.  I also helped with the Red River Rally. I am seeking a 3 year term.

Why you want to serve on the BCC Board:  Serving is a way to give back to a group of people that have encouraged me in ways that they can never fully know.  The club supports worthwhile causes.  I can support these causes, keep in shape and have a great group of friends.  Why would anyone not want to serve?

Jeff  Pearson
I am 57 years old and have been riding and with the club for this my 4th year of cycling. I am associated with and have been a sponsor for the Pedal Power Cycling Team. I really enjoy the benefits of cycling both physically and psychologically. I initially was asked to serve on the finance committee to review procedures for expenditures and reimbursement, and was interested in helping out. I have made a number of friends in the club and would be interested in serving to make cycling in the Bluegrass better for everyone.

Dwayne A. Edwards
Dwayne A. Edwards is the director of marketing for the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross, where he set up the partnership between the BCC and the Red Cross resulting in the Ride w/ the Red Charity ride.
He is a retired United States Army Officer and served in Bavaria, Hesse, Bad Wurtterberg, the Far East, the Balkans, Northern Georgia, Central Texas and Central Kentucky.  His last military assignment was as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Kentucky.

Dwayne has been a club member since January 2007 and served as the Christmas Bike give away coordinator for 2008, the Horsey Hundred Coordinator for 2009 and again has volunteered to serve as the HH Coordinator for the 2010 campaign.  Dwayne’s short term cycling goals are to complete a century in 2010 w/ the MS 150 team and an Olympic distance triathlon in 2011.  Dwayne is an active volunteer with the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of the Bluegrass  a board member of the North Lexington YMCA and the Philanthropy chairman for the board of directors of Catholic Charities of Lexington. Dwayne’s goals for the club are to continue to promote cycling in the Bluegrass, resurrect our cycling team, and enhance our philanthropy efforts in the area. He and his wife Ana have been married for 16 years, and are the proud owner of three bikes.   Dwayne would like to earn your vote for a three year term on the Bluegrass Cycling Club board.

Pam Thomas
I have been a cyclist on and off for over 20 years although I became serious about cycling about 5 years ago, when it became my primary form of aerobic exercise. At that time, after my 9th knee surgery on my left knee, the doctor said I couldn’t run anymore so I switched to cycling and spinning.  I want to serve on the board because I think it is important to give back to the community and I like the mission and philosophy of the BCC.  I also know that for an organization to grow and prosper, the members of the organization need to take turns serving in leadership roles.
2 year term

Terio J. Sutherland
Terio J. Sutherland  (2 year term) is currently the club Secretary.  In the past year he has been the Rest Stop Coordinator for the Horsey Hundred and the secretary for Team Bluegrass, the clubs team for Bike MS.  He led 17 rides during the touring season, in addition to participating in the Ride for the Red Lexington and Frankfort, the Black Tulip, the Old Kentucky Home Tour, the Firehouse Subs ride, the Hope Ride, the Harvest Homecoming, and Bike Virginia.  During the Christmas Bike Giveaway Terio was a volunteer mechanic.  He participated in proposing the new by-laws, and would like to help the club transition into a new leadership structure.  Terio will be the Rest Stop Coordinator for the 2010 Horsey Hundred, and hopes to continue to improve the clubs signature ride.  Terio graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2007 and is currently employed by OSRAM SYLVANIA in Versailles.  Prior to his time in Kentucky, Terio was a member of the U.S. Navy for 8 years.

Peggy Littrell
Peggy has been an active member of the Bluegrass Cycling Club for 5 years, serving in many different capacities from Social chairman to the current position of President. Cycling has afforded the opportunity to exercise in beautiful Central KY, make new friends, serve the community, and advance a healthy lifestyle. It has been a privilege to work with the BCC membership to promote all facets of cycling, including expanding membership, advocating for better road conditions and safety, providing bicycles for the next generation of cyclists, educating novice riders, and providing many cycling opportunities for daily rides. The future for the BCC knows no limits as we work and ride together to ensure a safer, friendlier, educated, and healthy atmosphere for cycling in our area. The new structure provided by the adopted by-laws will support the work that has been accomplished and take the Club into the future.

Peggy is a pediatric nurse practitioner currently working at UK College of Nursing in the graduate program as part-time faculty. Peggy and Ken have 5 children, 3 cats, and a dog. When not cycling or teaching, Peggy loves to knit. She is trying to figure out a way to knit while riding on the bike. Ever wondered what she carries in her camelback? Anybody need a new pair of socks?

Malcom Barrett
Continuing to serve the Bluegrass Cycling Club as a board member would be an honor. I have been cycling since about 1972, and have been biking with the Bluegrass Cycle Club for the past five years. I am a past Calvin's Challenge age group winner, and have competed in Master's Nationals as a time trialist. My service to the club has included volunteer support to various activities such as Horsey Hundred, Ride for the Red and the bike give away program. I have worked with Shriner's hospital to provide special needs bikes to the kids in their various programs. For the past year I have acted as Philonthropic Chair, and managed our bike give-away program. Thank you for your consideration, lets keep up the good work, and always keep the rubber side down.

Ed Jennings
BGCC is a great organization.. It’s full of generous people and does good things for the community. I’d like to join the board to help maintain its vitality and return the support the club has offered me since I joined three years ago. Ride leaders and others have helped me improve as a rider and made the rides an enjoyable experience. What a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get good exercise. I’m a faculty member at UK and have lived in Lexington for twenty years. I have lots of experience working with non-profit organizations and have served on boards both locally and nationally over the years. 2 year term

Richard Fern
I'm an accounting teacher at EKU and ride with the club occasionally. My past involvement with BGCC has been working Horsey Hundred rest stops for 3 years, coordinating the Horsey registration for the past 3 years and working at the Christmas bike give-away the past 3 years. I have led two or three club rides. 2 year term

Jamie Bagley
This year will mark my third year of membership in the Bluegrass Cycling Club. Becoming involved in cycling has been a very rewarding and life changing experience for me and my family. I am thankful for the opportunity to "share the road" with such a great group of people. Serving on the BCC board is one way that I can give back to the club. Currently, I serve as Membership Chair.  In addition to being a current board member, I led 9 beginner rides throughout the summer, worked a rest stop for the Red River Rally, and was a part of Team Bluegrass (Bike MS). It has truly been my pleasure to serve in this capacity, and I look forward to another great year with the club. 1 year term

Patrick Wesoloski
I am originally from Pittsburgh PA and moved to Lexington in 1984 to attend UK. Go CATS. Bitten by the mountain biking bug in the early 90's, I developed an interest in road biking thanks to the popularity of Lance and the Tour. I joined the BCC in the summer of 2004. The next spring, realizing the importance of supporting the club, I volunteered for my first Horsey Hundred (HH). Although I have not been able to ride in the HH, for the past five years I have volunteered my time at one of the Sunday lunch stops. Three years ago I started leading rides. The majority of my rides are "C" rides. I try to focus on providing easy rides that would attract new members and help educate and develop riding skills. The same type of encouraging rides I enjoyed my first few years in the club. Also, this past year I served the club as Red River Rally Coordinator, a role that I will continue for 2010. As an Eagle Scout and a former member of US Army Reserves, it has always been important to me to volunteer my time and resources. I would like the opportunity to serve the club as a Board Member. I feel I will be able to provide leadership and direction as the BCC continues to grow in the future and repay the club for many years of enjoyable riding and lasting friendships. 3 or 2 years.

End of nomination list. Nominations will end on January 10th.
